🕯️We’ve received a large number of messages 🕯️We’ve received a large number of messages from community asking about a local vigil for the young Kumanjayi baby girl who tragically lost her life in Alice Springs. The 5 Year Old girl was last seen on April 25, with her body sadly found on April 30 after days of searching. This has deeply impacted communities right across the country, with many holding onto hope during that time. Communities across the country are coming together on Thursday 7th May at 6pm to honour her, standing in solidarity and holding space for grief during this deeply heartbreaking time. We have been informed that a community-led candlelight vigil will be held locally at the Jetty Foreshore, near the Yacht Club on the stairs area. Community are invited to come together to light candles, say a prayer, sit and reflect on Kumanjayi baby girl, and for those who wish, bring flowers to place into the ocean. While OneMob Radio is not in a position to facilitate a vigil, we acknowledge and support this community-led gathering and thank those who have stepped forward to create this space for mob. What we can do is hold space online. We invite community to connect with us by sharing photos, whether you’re attending a vigil or lighting a candle at home, and to share your thoughts and feelings in a safe and respectful space. While we know this isn’t the same as being together in person, it creates an opportunity for our followers to connect not only here on Gumbaynggirr Country, but with mob right across Australia. Today, on ANZAC Day, we pause to remember the cour Today, on ANZAC Day, we pause to remember the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of all those who have served and fought for our freedom. Their bravery and mateship continue to shape the values we hold close today. We also take a moment to acknowledge the deep and often overlooked contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander soldiers. Many answered the call to serve a country that did not yet recognise them as equals. They fought with strength, pride, and resilience, yet too many returned to silence, injustice, and stories left untold. Today, we honour not only their service, but their truth. We remember the known, and we remember the forgotten. Lest we forget.
