OneMob Radio is a new First Nations internet radio station based in Gumbaynggirr Country that focuses on showcasing and celebrating our people, stories, achievements and culture.
We are excited to be launching our radio station on Wednesday 18th November 2020 via onemobradio.com.au as part of local NAIDOC week celebrations. Through our internet platform everybody will be able to access our shows anywhere, anytime on just about any device!
The station has been established by founder Lachlan Skinner after a number of years hosting a weekly Goori radio program on a community radio station in Coffs Harbour. Lachlan says:
“We decided to create our own station in order to dedicate more time and airspace to highlighting and promoting all of the amazing things our people are up to. We’re off to a really exciting start and we’ve already had so many amazing conversations with people all around the country who have been so supportive of our purpose and launch plans.”
Alongside keeping our people informed, OneMob Radio is also dedicated to offering community opportunities to enter and grow professional skills in the world of radio, media and content creation. Lachlan describes:
“I was a shy kid until I had the opportunity to get involved with radio. I want to recreate that opportunity for others. Working in radio helps to grow self-confidence, public speaking and presentation skills. Those types of skills are empowering and they help people to navigate the world successfully.”
OneMob Radio will go live on our deadly new webpage onemobradio.com.au on Wednesday 18th November at 7am! We’ll be kicking off by live broadcasting our breakfast show ‘OneMob Breakfast with Lockie Skinner’ from Galambila Aboriginal Medical Service, on Boambee Street, Coffs Harbour. The Launch Event will feature giveaways, activities, sign-ups, voice recording opportunities and of course Bacon and Egg Rolls!
