“For me, its important that our women know that we are Strong Aboriginal women and we are the backbone of our community. We are resilient, courageous, inspiring and we fight for what we believe in and I encourage all our Women to be strong and to stand tall” – Aunty Sue Hoskins
———–
On the lead up to International Women’s Day we want to acknowledge Women within community that are smashing it!
In no particular order we showcase Local Aboriginal Women in our community who go above and beyond and we at OneMob Radio thank them for their ongoing commitment to mob.
Pictured here is Aunty Sue Hoskins a proud Bundjalung and Gumbaynggirr Woman growing up in Coffs Harbour.
Over many years of employment Aunty Sue has worked in Health, Education, Coffs City Council Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer, Teaching in Brewrrina. Aunty Sue has also sat on a lot of boards in CHLALC, ABCARE, Yandaarra, and since retiring from the workforce and now looking after and support her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
We asked Aunty Sue what her passions were and she responds “My passion is for our People to have access to better opportunities as I think that’s how we learn and grow. I have worked in several different areas and love when our Women / Men/ Youth have access to pathways that better their lives and their families. Being on Boards has also given me an opportunity to have a Community voice for our People and Our Culture and its paving the way for the younger generations”.
Happy International Women’s Day ❤
